KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super (1-Click OC) - Custom RTX 2060 Super Series Model in Review
Nvidia has added "Super" to the name of its face-lifted RTX family models. Since Nvidia has already supplied us with a reference-design test card, we are familiar with the performance level of the GeForce RTX 2060 Super. KFA2 is a popular third-party vendor that has since adjusted its portfolio and released a custom RTX 2060 Super. Additionally, our sample carries the descriptor 1-Click OC. With KFA2's own tool "Xtreme Tuner", the card can be overclocked slightly in just a few clicks. More on that later.
The KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060S is a graphics card offer with 8 GB of VRAM that make it significantly more future-proof than its predecessor. On the latter, the meager 6 GB of VRAM were often an important factor to consider and met with criticisms before a potential purchase.
The PCB of the KFA2 card differs significantly from Nvidia's reference design. The 8-pin power connector returns to its old position and thus no longer artificially increases the card's length. For owners of more compact cases, this can be an advantage. The dimensions of the two cards are almost identical. However, KFA2's model weighs in at about 300 grams (~0.66 lb) less than the Nvidia counterpart. The cooling solution with its two fans is reminiscent of the Founders Edition. However, due to the large difference in terms of weight, Nvidia's cooling solution is likely significantly more powerful. Our benchmark section will show whether or not this leads to any disadvantages for the KFA2 RTX 2060S.
At the time of testing, the KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super 1-Click OC can be purchased for just below 390 Euros (~$432), making it around 40 Euros (~$44) cheaper than Nvidia's Founders Edition. The manufacturer has not opted to include any RGB eye candy, which is not necessarily a great loss. In terms of outputs, the KFA2 lacks a second DisplayPort and a type-C port. Thus, users are left with 1x HDMI 2.0b, 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1x DVI port. This should be sufficient for most use cases. Internally, the graphics card requires an 8-pin power connection just like the Founders Edition. At 175 watts, the KFA2's consumption matches the reference design as well.

Test Setup - Ryzen 9 3900X Based
Our test setup is based on the latest AMD platform and contains the MSI MEG X570 Godlike. The CPU, an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, offers plenty of CPU performance and an AIO (BeQuiet Silent Loop 280mm) handles cooling. The 16 GB of RAM originate from G-Skill and run at a frequency of 3,600 MHz. We used the Acer Predator XB321HK as our display. Thanks to UHD support, it does not limit us in our testing. We want to thank AMD for providing us with the test platform.
We performed the benchmarks below using the following configuration:
- Corsair Carbide Air 540 ATX Cube
- AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
- KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super 1-Click-OC (Nvidia 436.15 driver)
- MSI MEG X570 Godlike (BIOS 1.20, Default Settings, XMP 1 for DDR4-3600 CL16)
- Antec 1200-Watt power supply
- G-Skill Trident Z Royal gold DDR4-3600 memory kit 2 x 8 GB, set to DDR4-3600 CL16-16-16-36
- Corsair MP600 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD
- Crucial MX500 2TB (for games)
Clock Speeds of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060S
As the above table shows, Nvidia has raised the base clock of the GeForce RTX 2060S slightly (1,470 MHz). At the same time, the boost clock speed of 1,665 MHz is slightly lower than that of the RTX 2060. Here, our test model differs from the Founders Edition, since the latter only offers a GPU boost of 1,650 MHz. In practice, this value is often far exceeded however, which is why the graphics card from KFA2 is not able to secure an advantage in this area. The power limit of the graphics card has been set to 175 watts and thus equals the value specified by Nvidia. It can be increased by 14 percent, whereas the Founders Edition allows for a maximum of 22 percent. The KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super almost always ran at a clock speed of more than 1,800 MHz before reaching the PT (power target) and limiting clock speeds. The VRAM has a capacity of 8 GB and an effective clock speed of 14 GHz, making it as fast as the VRAM of the non-Super RTX 2060.
Synthetic Benchmarks
Before we take a look at the gaming performance, we first want to focus on the results of synthetic benchmark tests. Overall, the KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super is as fast as Nvidia's reference model. The two candidates are very close in all of our tests. Our test sample loses in a direct comparison with AMD however. In our synthetic tests, the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT was slightly faster. For the non-Super version of RTX 2060, we used a MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z 6G. Depending on the test, it was between 10 to 20 percent slower than the faster Super variant.

Gaming Benchmarks
The gaming tests also show that KFA2 and the Founders Edition of the RTX 2060S are on an equal footing. Due to the faster processor, the KFA2 has a slight advantage in our gaming tests. Since the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X has a clear disadvantage compared to the Intel, an upgrade of our test setup was in order. Now, with the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, the system is almost on par with the faster processor and the Ryzen 9 3900X is better suited to future applications thanks to its 12 cores. The graphics card, of course, also profits from the higher single-thread performance and the higher clock speeds. All in all, the KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060S is almost 6 percent faster. Even the MSI GeForce RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G and the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT are within reach and only marginally outperform our KFA2 sample.
The frametimes and the frame progression of our test card are unremarkable. There are spikes as well as dips. However, since they are only short-lived, stuttering is not an issue. Our data stems from the game The Witcher 3 (Ultra preset). On average, our KFA2 model achieved 81.7 FPS, which translates to a very good gaming experience. While the Founders Edition of the RTX 2060S achieved a slightly better result of 82.7 fps, the differences are unlikely to be noticeable during day-to-day use.

Computing Performance
The computing performance of the KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060S is similar to that of the reference Nvidia card as well. However, the KFA2 card benefits from the faster CPU in the SPECviewperf tests, since our card often outperformed its Nvidia counterpart in these particular tests. However, our test card falls behind the MSI RTX 2070 Gaming Z 8G. The performance advantage over MSI's GeForce RTX 2060 amounts to around 20 percent. Here, the performance of the AMD models shows significant fluctuations. While both cards managed to beat the GeForce RTX 2080 in some tests, the performance of the two AMD cards dropped significantly in other individual tests and even fell far behind Nvidia's RTX family cards.

Emissions of the KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super
Our KFA2 test card adheres to Nvidia's specifications. As for specific numbers, the KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060S has to make do with a power budget of 175 watts. That said, KFA2 has limited the margin for manual overclocking by setting the maximum PT (power target) value to just 14 percent. Meanwhile, Nvidia's reference model accepts a value of up to 22 percent. During daily use, this does not affect the performance of the graphics card.
Both cards share a similar cooling solution, since KFA2 also uses two 90-mm axial fans. They stop spinning in 2D scenarios, which allows for silent operation - at least of the graphics card. This is a big advantage, since Nvidia offers no such option for their reference cards. When taking a closer look at the cards and while holding them in our hands, the large weight discrepancy becomes apparent. While Nvidia relies on a vapor chamber unit for its Founders Edition, KFA2 uses a heatpipe design for its model, which is not necessarily a disadvantage. During the stress test FurMark, the KFA2 card even remained slightly cooler than the reference cards with 69 °C (~156 °F) and even with the higher PT, the temperature only increases by 5 °C (~9 °F) to a total of 74 °C (~165 °F). The fans spin slightly faster and emit quiet fan noises under load.
In terms of energy consumption, there are a lot of fluctuations due to our new test platform. During idle, about 93.8 watts are being consumed. This value increases under load and we were able to record a power draw of around 315 watts from the test setup without display during our stress test. However, as a quick glance at the GPU-Z values reveals, both cards exceed the manufacturer's specified power draw by around 175 W. With PT set to 114 percent, the KFA2 allows for a maximum consumption of 199.5 watts. The additional 25 watts match with our measurements from the system as a whole. The average consumption during our stress test with the aforementioned PT of 114 percent is 340 watts. In a gaming scenario, the system only consumes slightly less power, drawing 331 watts on average.
In order to simulate a real-world environment, all tests were performed with a closed case.

Overclocking - Unnecessary, for the Most Part
Our KFA2 model has the appendix 1-Click OC, which means the graphics card can be overclocked with just a few clicks. Users only have to install the tool Xtreme Tuner and are all set. Once the 1-Click OC option is enabled, the PT is increased to 114 percent and the GPU base clock rises from 1,470 to 1,485 MHz. The boost clock is then increased to 1,680 MHz. Since this value is regularly exceeded under load, the overclock itself is hard to notice. The one thing we did notice from the 1-Click OC option is a more stable boost clock, which stems from the fact that the graphics card can then work with an increased power budget of 199.5 watts.
We overclocked the graphics card manually without the 1-Click OC option as well and achieved a GPU clock speed of +100 MHz. We also overclocked the VRAM and reached a plus of 900 MHz. This improved the results of 3DMark 11 and 3DMark Fire Strike slightly. That said, the manual overclock did not yield a noticeable boost in terms of performance, which is why we recommend users to leave the card in its defaults state.

Verdict - Future-Proof Thanks to 8 GB of VRAM
With the KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super, its manufacturer delivers one of the cheapest graphics cards on the market. As of this article, our device can be purchased for around 390 Euros (~$432), which is 40 Euros (~$44) less than Nvidia's Founders Edition. However, since both pixel accelerators run at the same speed, customers do not have to compromise when it comes to performance. That said, consumers should not expect to be able to squeeze more performance out of the KFA2 model either, since it is limited by a 175-watt BIOS as well. The 1-click OC version comes without any LED lighting and is presumably aimed at customers who prefer their PC without christmas lights. The lack of LED lighting can even be an advantage, since the graphics card has more power at its disposal after accounting for the consumption of the two fans.
With 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, the graphics card is suitable for all current games. The performance is sufficient for Full-HD as well as WQHD, although 32 frames per second in Anno 1800 are less than we'd like to see. By reducing some of the graphics settings to below "max", the frame rates in this game rise to a more playable level. The same holds true for higher resolutions, since they tend to be reserved for faster cards and do not reflect the target audience of the RTX 2060S.
The KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super did well in our review overall and achieved better results than the reference design model despite the more modest cooler. The fan-stop mode for 2D use is a plus, since it not only allows the graphics card to conserve energy, but also enables silent operation.
The KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 Super shines with solid performance and slightly lower temperatures than Nvidia's reference cards under load. If you can live without RGB eye candy, this graphics card is a good choice.
Compared to the Founders Edition, this card may be a more appealing offer and with a price of well below 400 Euros (~$444), tempt more prospective buyers. Those who want to spend less will have to sacrifice RTX features, since the RTX 2060S is the entry-level model. Although a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is slightly cheaper, it is marginally slower and only offers 6 GB of VRAM.
