Far Cry New Dawn Laptop and Desktop Benchmarks
Technology
As is the case with other Ubisoft games (e.g. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey & Ghost Recon Wildlands), Far Cry New Dawn scores some major points with a very in-depth settings menu, which should serve as an example for other video games. Many settings offer not only descriptions in written form but also practical comparison images.
Because the menu is divided into four categories, it is quite easy to navigate. This is why users do not have to do a lot of scrolling up and down. While the tab named “Monitor” contains such settings as the resolution, the window mode, the refresh rate and HDR (optional), the “Quality” tab features 10 more settings and several presets, which change a whole bunch of settings in one fell swoop. In the “Color” tab, you can adjust the brightness, the contrast and the gamma. In the “Advanced Settings” tab, users can turn V-Sync on and off and enable/disable a frame rate lock. Furthermore, there are also the FOV slider and the upsampling/downsampling slider.
Positive: All settings take effect without a restart. The size of the game has shrunk considerably when compared to Far Cry 5. Instead of 35 GB, now the download size is 25 GB - that is as long as you do not download the HD texture pack.
Benchmarks
Just like its predecessor, Far Cry New Dawn also features an in-game benchmark, which takes roughly one minute and displays an FPS graph while it is being conducted. Once it is concluded, it shows users the minimum, average and maximum frame rate. Because the benchmark sequence is not identical to Far Cry 5, there may be some difference in performance. That being said, if you were able to run Far Cry 5 smoothly you will be able to do the same with New Dawn. For an okay gaming experience, we suggest a frame rate of at least 40 FPS. The title starts to feel very smooth at 60 FPS and above.
Results
HD (1280x720)
Those who want to play Far Cry New Dawn will need a mid-range GPU at the very least. Integrated graphics solutions such as the HD Graphics 630 fail to deliver playable frame rates even at 720p and with all the settings set to low. Here, you will need a GeForce GTX 950M at the very minimum.

FHD (1920x1080)
If you want to run the game at 1080p, then you will need an upper mid-range GPU or an older high-end graphics card. The medium preset requires a GeForce GTX 1050 or a GTX 970M to achieve playable frame rates. To run the game on the high preset, you will need, at the very least, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. If you want to play Far Cry New Dawn on ultra settings, then you will need a GeForce GTX 980M.

QHD (2560x1440) & UHD (3840x2160)
Current high-end GPUs are a must if you wish to game at resolutions above 1920x1080. If you want to crank the settings all the way up at 1440p, then you will need a GeForce GTX 1060. The GeForce GTX 1080 is your best bet if you want to run the game at 4K on the ultra preset.

Note
Because gaming benchmarks require a lot of time and are further constrained by installation limits, we can only provide you with a part of the benchmarks when we first put this article online. More graphics cards will be added in the coming days and weeks.
