The Intel Core i7-10700K is a high-end desktop CPU based on the Comet Lake architecture. The CPU offers 8 cores and 16 threads clocked at 3.8 - 5.1 GHz. The TDP is rated at 125 Watt (PL1) but the PL2 is set to 229 Watt for short term boosts (up to 56 seconds).

- Microsoft Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit (Version 1909)
The Core i7-10700K comes from Intel. MSI supported us with the mainboard and Caseking created the RaijintekPean Showcase. As cooling we use the Alphacool Eisbear 280 AiO.
Processor Benchmarks
In a direct comparison with the Intel Core i7-9700K, the newer Core i7-10700K can only clearly stand out in the multi-threaded benchmarks. The single core performance is on the same level and the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is not faster here either. However, due to its 12 cores, it can place itself in front of our sample in the multi-core tests here. The Core i9-10900K can improve on this and places itself almost 10 percent ahead of the Core i7-10700K.

Application performance
In the application benchmarks, the Core i7-10700K can significantly reduce the gap to the top model from its own company. This indicates that these applications do not scale with the multitude of computing cores. The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X with its 12 cores even ranks below our Intel Core i7-10700K.

Energy consumption
Economical when idling and thirsty under load! So you can rate the Core i7-10700K's energy consumption in one sentence. But always one after the other. The power target (PL1) is 125 watts, which already means an increase of 30 watts compared to the Core i7-9700K. Intel also increases the maximum power consumption (PL2) to 229 watts. At the same time, the tau value for PL2 is also increased by a factor of two, which means that this high power consumption can now be applied for 56 seconds. This now also requires a much more sophisticated cooling unit.
In our test, the energy consumption of the Intel Core i7-10700K is comparable to an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X. Only 7 watts separate the two systems in the Cinebench R15 multi loop in favor of Intel.
