Qualcomm X2E-78-100

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-78-100 is the slowest variant of the X2 notebook SoCs to be launched in September 2025. It offers 12 of the 18 CPU cores divided into 6 prime cores with up to 4 GHz (4 GHz all cores) and 6 performance cores with up to 3.4 GHz. Together, the CPU part has 34 MB of cache.

The SoC also integrates a weaker X2-85 GPU with 1.35 GHz, an NPU with up to 80 TOPS (INT8), LPDDR5x-9523 memory controller with 128 bits and 152 GB/s bandwidth and the Spectra ISP for up to 36 MP dual cameras. Storage media can be connected via NVMe, PCIe 5.0, UFS 4.0, SD Express and SD 3.0. The chip also supports 3x USB 4.0 ports.

The CPU performance should be well behind the more powerful models such as the Top model X2E-96-100 (18 cores up to 5 GHz) or the X2E-88-100 (18 cores up to 4.7 GHz). We estimate that the performance will be slightly above the old Snapdragon X Elite X1E-84-100 (also 12 cores, up to 4.2 GHz).

The SoC is produced with a mixture of N3X and N3P (via ComputerBase) at TSMC (3nm).
