The Belgian news outlet VRT NWS claims to have gained access to audio recordings made as a result of Google Assistant 'listening' to user speech or activity. This apparent evidence suggests that the search giant allows these workers access to information that would have remained private were it not for the presence of the Assistant.

New leaked slides show that the Comet Lake-S desktop CPUs are scheduled to replace the current gen 9 Coffee Lake-R models in early 2020. Intel will release a new 400-series chipset to support the upcoming CPUs that come with up to 10 cores / 20 threads and TDPs of up to 125 W. Unfortunately these will not be compatible with current motherboards, as the slides reveal the necessity of a new LGA 1200 socket.

MediaTek announces i700 SoC for A.I. IoT applications

Thanks to its dual-NPU design, the i700 SoC provides 5X increased A.I. acceleration when compared to the already available i500 chip. It also features eight ARM Cortex cores, a PowerVR GM 9446 GPU and supports up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x-1866 RAM. The chip is targeted at smart IoT devices, fitness and entertainment devices that enable AR experiences and warehouse autonomous vehicles.

The latest market analysis indicates that the volume of eSIM-enabled device shipments reached 384 million last year. The resulting projections suggest that this figure will grow to about 2 billion over the next 6 years. Smartphones will account for the vast majority of the units in question.

The patent application filed by Microsoft back in 2017 has surfaced online now and the document made available by the USPTO clearly shows diagrams of detachable controllers that have been designed to work with smartphones and tablets. Obviously, it might take a while for such products to hit the market and is also possible for Microsoft to drop the idea.

Kali Linux now available for Raspberry Pi 4

Kali Linux is now compatible with the Raspberry Pi 4. Currently, the distro is only available as a 32-bit OS, but Offensive Security is planning on releasing a 64-bit version soon. In the meantime, security aficionados who have a spare Raspberry Pi 4 lying around can head over to the Kali Linux site and download the distro image.
