Pros
Cons
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro is a premium smartphone powered by the six-core A20 Pro processor and seven-core GPU. It features a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 2622 × 1206 resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. Its rear camera system combines three 48 MP sensors with variable aperture, optical zoom, ultrawide coverage, and a 3D time-of-flight sensor. The device includes 12 GB of memory, up to 1 TB of listed storage, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and USB-C connectivity. A 4,056 mAh battery powers the phone, while iOS 27 provides the software platform. Reviews generally commend its performance, cameras, and battery improvements but question its value for iPhone 17 Pro owners because of the higher price and incremental changes.

Small updates here and there make the iPhone 18 Pro an easy recommendation, even if it’s more of a ‘S’ upgrade rather than a fully-fledged revolution. The camera is great in all conditions, the battery life is better than previous years and the performance off the charts compared to Android rivals.

The iPhone 18 Pro is an iterative upgrade on an already great device from last year. Inside, it has some quite big changes, but their impact is fairly minor on the whole experience. The new A20 Pro chip is super fast, but you can’t really notice the difference day to day, as previous iPhone chips have already been very quick.

The Apple iPhone 18 Pro isn’t the flashiest phone Apple launched this year, but it is a superb one. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are a refinement of last year’s top-end models, adding creative camera features, a bit of extra grunt, and longevity to an already excellent base. If you’re a photography nerd, you’ll appreciate the camera upgrades. Between the film-like Photographic Styles, variable aperture, and proper manual controls, I don’t think I’ve had as much fun taking and editing photos on an iPhone.

Last year was a good one for the Pro iPhones, which made me wonder how Apple would follow up. The answer, it seems, is to take what made them good and make it even better. The regular iPhone Pro remains one of the few premium compact offerings on the market as a whole. While the 18 Pro Max swims in a sea of Android competitors, the 18 Pro has only a handful to contend with. And within Apple's own roster, this one may seem like quite an incremental update over the iPhone 17 Pro. The new chipset's performance is perhaps the biggest surprise this year, delivering a true generational upgrade.

The iPhone 18 Pro could truly be called the iPhone 17 Pro S. It looks and acts the same as last year’s flagship. I have more than 15 years of experience scrutinizing phones and couldn’t find anything to criticize about the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, other than the pricing, especially for the models with upgraded storage. (Though, in fairness, that has as much to do with the current component crunch as it does with Apple itself.) Though some might want a bit more visual differentiation, the technology in this phone is genuinely … well, it’s bonkers.

Apple A20 Pro 7-core GPU: A graphics processor integrated into Apple's A20 Pro SoCs. Early data indicates there are no architectural A19 Pro 6-core GPU from 2025, but there is now one computational cluster (core) more, and clock speeds may have received a slight increase as well.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

A20 Pro: Apple's powerful new SoC found inside its H2 2026 iPhones and possibly iPads. Made with an unspecified "2 nm" process, it features 2 high-performance and and 4 power-saving CPU cores running at higher clock speeds than what the A19 Pro could muster. The built-in NPU, as well as the iGPU are now both larger and faster.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
