Apple A20 Pro 7-core GPU
The A20 Pro 7-core GPU is a graphics processor integrated into Apple's A20 Pro SoCs. Early data indicates that there are no architectural improvements compared with the A19 Pro 6-core GPU from 2025, but it now has one additional computational cluster (core), and clock speeds may also have increased slightly.
Performance
Early Geekbench 6.7 Metal GPU tests put the new iGPU ahead of the M4 10-core GPU, a capable 2024 iGPU used in certain Macs and iPads. However, iPhones have no active cooling, so under sustained loads, the GPU's clock speeds will need to decrease significantly to prevent overheating.
Power efficiency
The Apple A20 Pro SoC is manufactured by TSMC using its new 2 nm N2 process, which promises excellent power efficiency. Apple supports this claim with projections of greatly improved battery life for the new iPhone 18 Pro.
