Apple iPhone 18 Pro: New video focuses on most important new feature of the next iPhones

Everyone probably already knows what the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will look like when they are officially unveiled by Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus, potentially on September 8 or 9, 2026, at Apple Park in Cupertino. Surprises in terms of design are practically impossible just a few weeks before the event. In addition to the primary “Dark Cherry” red color, there will likely also be blue, silver, and dark gray color options, which can be briefly seen in a new video by fpt host John Prosser.
However, the YouTuber focuses primarily on a new feature that we recently confirmed in a log file. In addition to a new sensor for the main camera, the new iPhones will for the first time ever offer a true variable aperture. That feature primarily regulates the amount of light hitting the sensor. Unlike exposure control that relies solely on software, this also provides the ability to adjust the depth of field or turn light sources into attractive starlights.
Apple A20 and Larger Batteries Offer Longer Battery Life
It remains to be seen what other camera features the new—but presumably similarly sized—sensor will bring, but in principle, Prosser is correct in his assertion that the variable aperture in the iPhone is a very important new feature. One that has disappeared from most Android competitors after just a few generations though, with the exception of Huawei. In addition to the new main camera, the YouTuber also discusses many other expected specs of the new iPhones, such as the smaller Dynamic Island in the display or the thicker aluminum case, which will house not only the 2nm Apple A20 Pro chip but also larger batteries— 4,288 mAh for the iPhone 18 Pro and 5,567 mAh for the iPhone 18 Pro Max to be exact. The Apple C2 modem is also mentioned, but unfortunately, the YouTuber overlooks details such as region-specific differences. Specifically, according to the Tata leak, an Apple C2 modem isn’t expected in the iPhone 18 Pro U.S. models. In any case, the combination of new 2nm chip and larger batteries should result in longer battery life across the board.
