Apple iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max: Larger batteries confirmed by certification

There have been hints in recent days about the battery sizes for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but now we have it in writing from the database of the Chinese 3C authority. About two months before the expected September launch date of the new iPhones, the four battery sizes for the iPhone 18 Pro generation have been confirmed, as Digital Chat Station is currently reporting via screenshot on Weibo.
iPhone 18 Pro
The color coding in the image below is intended to make it easier to match the four battery models to the two iPhone 18 Pro models. According to this, the Chinese (and likely international) iPhone 18 Pro version with a SIM card slot features a 4,056 mAh battery, compared to 3,988 mAh in the iPhone 17 Pro. That’s only 1.71 percent more than last year. In the eSIM-only model, as sold in the U.S., the battery capacity increases from 4,252 mAh to 4,288 mAh, that is 0.85 percent more.
iPhone 18 Pro Max
As for the larger 6.9-inch iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple will apparently use a 5,391 mAh battery for the Chinese Sim-card-model, so this value likely applies to Europe and other international regions as well. Compared to the 4,823 mAh battery in the iPhone 17 Pro Max , this represents a respectable increase of 11.78 percent. The U.S. model without a sim slot will feature a 5,567 mAh battery, up from 5,088 mAh in last years model which is 9.41% more. Apple traditionally does not list battery capacities officially and instead mentions expected runtimes in the datasheets. The actual battery sizes will then be confirmed by teardowns following the launch.
