Bad news for AirPods Pro 4 with cameras

As recently as May, it was speculated that the next AirPods Pro would be coming with cameras and that they were in the final stage of development. Apple was expected to unveil these new AirPods Pro in September, but it looks like that won’t be the case anymore.

The information comes from leaker Kosutami on X, who initially supported Ming-Chi Kuo’s 2024 claims about the next AirPods Pro coming with embedded cameras. These were meant to analyze the environment and feed visual data to Siri AI and, at the time, were expected to arrive in 2026. Now, the leaker has quashed these speculations with a simple response post on X that says, “*Suspended.”

The leaker doesn’t share any more information, so the reason for the AirPods Pro with cameras to be put on the back burner is unclear. This does mean that the project isn’t completely cancelled, and that Apple may still release these AirPods at some point in the future. But, as it stands now, this September will not see the launch of camera-embedded earbuds.

What will arrive in September is Apple’s first foldable, rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra. It will be an expensive phone, but Apple seems confident in its sales and has ramped up production to 10 million units. In fact, the company is already said to be working on the iPhone Ultra 2.
