Apple A20 outclasses Android rivals in our review: iPhone's lead is impressive

With the A20 Pro, Apple sets the bar for smartphone performance very high in our review. The iPhone 18 Pro benchmarks show that Apple's new high-end SoC is currently beyond the reach of its Android rivals, particularly in NPU and CPU performance. Even a Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra or Oppo Find X9 Pro with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Dimensity 9500 has to concede a clear defeat in some tests.
You can find all the scores, measurements and information you need before buying the new iPhone 18 Pro in our review.
The Apple A20 Pro in the iPhone 18 Pro is a class above the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
In the current Geekbench 7 benchmark, the Apple A20 Pro demonstrates its strength in the single-core test. Scoring over 4,000 points, the iPhone 18 Pro is almost a third ahead of Samsung's current flagship. The improvement over its predecessor with the Apple A19 Pro (available on Amazon.com), is also substantial at over 22 percent. Although its lead in multi-core performance is smaller than in the single-core test, it is still enough to claim the benchmark crown

The picture is even more impressive in the NPU and AI tests. Apple's new chip achieves an exceptionally strong score of over 7,000 points in Geekbench AI, giving it a huge lead over its rivals in the Android camp, which cannot even reach the 1,000-point mark in the single-precision NPU test.
Compact flagship smartphone with formidable performance
Our benchmark results in the iPhone 18 Pro review paint a clear picture. The Android elite with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Dimensity 9500 stands no chance against Apple's A20 – not even in graphics performance anymore. You can find the GPU benchmark results in our review.
Above all, however, the CPU's single-core scores and the AI test results make the Android competition look outdated. Anyone seeking maximum computing power will currently struggle to find a faster smartphone platform than Apple's new flagship chip. What's more, the iPhone 18 Pro is wonderfully easy to handle thanks to its compact design and 6.3-inch OLED panel.
