Apple roadmap leak reveals plans for 11 new MacBooks, iMacs, and more

Rumors about Apple’s Mac plans have been circulating for months, but a new report from Bloomberg reveals more details about the timeline and specifications of these models. According to the report, a new 14-inch MacBook Pro ($1,849 on Amazon) and an iMac will kick things off this fall. Neither model is expected to undergo major design changes, but both will receive an upgrade to the Apple M6.

Things will get particularly exciting toward the end of this year or early next year, as that’s when the MacBook Ultra is expected to hit the market. According to rumors, the laptop will feature an extremely color-accurate tandem OLED touchscreen and a new design with a thinner chassis. However, the laptop is still expected to be equipped with the familiar Apple M5 Pro and M5 Max, as the Apple M6 Pro and M6 Max have reportedly been scrapped.

Early next year, the MacBook Air is also expected to receive an upgrade to the Apple M6. The Mac mini with the Apple M6 and the Mac Studio with the Apple M5 Max and M5 Ultra could hit the market either this year or next year. According to Bloomberg, this depends primarily on whether Apple can secure sufficient RAM. Finally, in 2027, a more affordable 14-inch MacBook Pro is set to follow, which will not only receive an upgrade to the Apple M7 but is also expected to inherit the design of the MacBook Ultra.

The MacBook Neo is expected to receive upgrades to the Apple A19 Pro ARM chip and 12 GB of RAM next year. The MacBook Ultra is expected to receive an upgrade to the Apple M7 Pro and M7 Max toward the end of 2027 or early 2028. A MacBook Air and an iMac with an OLED display are reportedly in development but won’t hit the market before 2028. Here’s what Apple’s Mac plans currently look like, according to Bloomberg:
