Apple iPhone 20 Pro Max said to feature even larger display

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max still featured a 6.7-inch display, while the screen of the current iPhone 17 Pro Max ($1,320 on Amazon) already measures 6.9 inches diagonally. The end of this trend, which began with the iPhone 5 in 2012, is still nowhere in sight. This year, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone Ultra, a foldable smartphone with a main display measuring approximately 7.7 inches diagonally.

While the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to stick with a 6.9-inch display, the usually highly reliable leaker Digital Chat Station is now hinting that this could change with next year’s iPhone 20 Pro Max. This is because Apple is reportedly testing a 7-inch display for its flagship model, which, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first iPhone, is expected not only to skip a number in the model name but also to undergo significant design changes. This would increase the available screen area by about 3 percent to 120 cm².

Whether Apple will actually opt for this larger display has reportedly not yet been finalized. According to rumors, the iPhone 20 Pro Max will feature a completely redesigned look with front glass curved on all four sides and a display that is said to have even thinner bezels than the iPhone 17 Pro Max – as a result, the device’s dimensions could be only slightly larger despite the larger AMOLED panel. As usual, caution is advised with such early rumors, because even if they accurately reflect Apple’s current plans, those plans can still change more than a year before launch.
