Creality Pika pocket 3D scanner with up to 0.03mm accuracy, marker-free scanning launched

After the Sermoon S1, X1, and the all-in-one P1, Creality has now launched the Pika, a significantly more compact 3D scanner. Of course, it is not as accurate or performant as its bigger siblings, but the built-in screen and portable nature of it are what set it apart from the competition. And it is still highly accurate.

Creality Pika features and specifications

The Pika 3D scanner measures 100x60x35mm and weighs just 260 grams. It offers two scanning modes: parallel blue laser (seven lines) and NIR. It is capable of scanning accurately up to 0.03mm with the former and 0.1mm with the latter. There is a 3-inch HD touchscreen with 500 nits peak brightness, but the Pika does not have the standalone power to post-process. You can scan objects in standalone mode, but it requires connecting to a phone or a PC for fusion and meshing. Speaking of which, there are two ways to connect to an external device: over Wi-Fi 6 (PC and mobile) and wired (PC).

When connected to a PC, it can reach up to 110 FPS, while mobile devices are limited to 30 FPS. Interestingly, when in wired PC mode, the Pika can do marker-free blue laser scanning, something that even the P1 or S1 cannot.

The processing for the scans is handled by an 8-core CPU (2.0 GHz), but that’s all the info Creality has given. There is a 3,350 mAh battery inside, along with an additional battery included in the box. These batteries can be charged outside the scanner with a USB-C connection.

Creality Pika price and availability

At the time of publishing, the Pika 3D scanner is listed for pre-order on the Creality website for $629, a $70 discount from its MSRP of $699. It is in the early bird period, which ends on August 12, and shipping for pre-orders will start on August 5. Amazon also has it listed, but the price is significantly higher at $979.
