Insta360 opens Luna Ultra 3D design challenge in collaboration with Bambu Lab

Insta360, in collaboration with Bambu Lab, has opened its Luna Ultra Design Challenge, awarding creators of 3D-printed add-ons and mods, design drawings, and creative ideas with 40 awards. The 3D model files for the camera have been made available at MakerWorld. Submissions are accepted from July 10 to August 9, 2026.
The Luna Ultra (sold here on Amazon) is Insta360's latest 3-axis gimbal camera, shipping with a 1-inch 8K main sensor. It includes AI focusing, a detachable 2-inch OLED monitor, and 10-bit I-Log output. The camera can zoom up to 12x on distant subjects. The camera can also take 200 MP panoramic photos.
Two contest tracks are offered: the Model Design Challenge track and the Social Content Challenge track. The former track takes submissions of add-ons that enhance the use of the Luna Ultra and mods that add style and creativity to the camera. The latter track takes social media text, photo, or video submissions of camera gear and mods, design drawings, and creative ideas. Additional details are available from Insta360.
Digital models posted on MakerWorld can be printed on Bambu 3D printers like the X2D reviewed earlier this year using the Bambu Handy app, enabling Luna Ultra owners to easily customize their cameras with various contest submissions.
Winners will receive a variety of prizes, including top prizes that include a Luna Ultra with a Bambu 3D printer. Select grand prize winners might see their ideas commercialized as official accessories.
