Bambu Lab has unveiled the H3C, an ambitious new flagship 3D printer. The model features multiple print heads with a single toolhead setup, promising distinct advantages when printing flexible materials like TPU.

Bambu Lab has officially unveiled the H3C, a high-end 3D printer equipped with no fewer than nine print heads. While these heads cannot operate simultaneously, the multi-head design—similar in concept to the Flashforge Creator 5 Pro—offers clear benefits for multi-filament jobs. Crucially, it eliminates the need to purge material during filament swaps, though initial priming may still be required. Where geometry allows, priming can even take place inside the print itself, provided the given layer features an invisible internal infill. According to the manufacturer, swaps executed via the Swaptek system take under six seconds. Users can also mix different nozzle sizes within a single job, allowing intricate details to print at maximum resolution while larger internal structures build at high speeds.

Additionally, five base filaments enable full-color printing without restricting users to stock filament shades. Instead, colors can be mixed directly during extrusion. This dynamic mixing capability is particularly intriguing, though real-world color consistency and gradient performance remain to be proven.

Bambu Lab highlights major advancements for TPU processing. The FlexFeed extruder accommodates both 2.85 mm and 1.75 mm filaments, which not only boosts volumetric flow rates but also mitigates traditional TPU feeding issues. Because TPU remains highly flexible at room temperature, it typically poses a severe challenge to standard extrusion mechanisms. Material is supplied via the integrated AMS 3H feeding system, which features RFID spools and active drying for two of its nine filament bays. The printer maintains full backward compatibility with the AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT, allowing setups with up to 24 materials—though scaling to this degree sacrifices some core advantages of the dedicated tool-changing mechanism.

The Bambu Lab H3C AMS Combo (including the AMS 3H unit) retails for €2,499 including VAT, or $2,499 excluding tax. Optional accessories include a modular air filtration system and the Bambu Station, a dedicated base cabinet.
