Official 3D Killer Bean game debuts on Steam following years of development

The long-awaited Killer Bean video game has officially launched in Early Access on Steam, bringing the cult-favorite assassin to life. Developed single-handedly by Jeff Lew — creator of the original Killer Bean shorts and the 2008 feature film Killer Bean Forever — the game arrived on June 8 following years of development.
In this game, players take control of Killer Bean, a rogue coffee-bean assassin betrayed by the Shadow Agency. The story-driven roguelike shooter supports first- and third-person perspectives across different game modes. Core gameplay includes a full single-player campaign with randomized missions, alongside additional modes such as The Party and Battle Arena.
Combat emphasizes chaotic, physics-driven action with ragdoll effects, enemy vehicles, aircraft, and mechs. Four factions — Bad Beans, Mercenaries, Pirate Commandos, and Shadow Troops — populate the world alongside bosses and mini-bosses.
Currently on sale at $11.99, the game has received mixed early reviews (68% positive from over 1,200 users). Players praise it as a game with great potential, while noting clunky controls and rough edges typical of day-one Early Access.
Lew plans to keep the title in Early Access for approximately two years, releasing major content updates every two months. Community feedback will shape future additions, including co-op modes, Jet Bean as a playable character, and additional missions. The project stands as a notable solo-dev achievement expanding a beloved animated franchise.
