Sermoon P1S: Creality launches cheaper version of its all-in-one 3D scanner

Creality launched its first all-in-one 3D scanner, the Sermoon P1, earlier this year. It was a flagship offering with a flagship price tag. This scanner was followed by the lower-end and budget-friendly Creality Pika, though it was not as capable as the rest. Now, the company has launched a cheaper alternative to the Sermoon P1, the Sermoon P1S.

Creality Sermoon P1S features

We’ve reviewed the Sermoon P1, so you can check out its features and capabilities here. As for what’s changed, the P1S has more lasers in the cross-line scanning mode, up from 22 to 34. The accuracy has gone down slightly from 0.02 mm + 0.06 mm/m to 0.02 mm + 0.08 mm/m. In standalone mode, NIR scanning is capped at 20 FPS rather than 60 FPS. Furthermore, the LPDDR5X RAM is lower at 16 GB, but the storage remains unchanged at 256 GB.

These compromises have brought the weight down a little, from 830 grams to 807 grams. In our review of the Sermoon P1, we found that it was comfortable and ergonomic when used with both hands, though a bit heavy with one. With the Sermoon P1S, Creality has improved the scanning rate in both standalone and wired mode, as well as the single capture range. The company is claiming marker-free scanning in blue laser mode when used in wired PC mode.

The 6-inch screen and overall dimensions remain the same, as do the eight-core Qualcomm CPU and Adreno 740 GPU. The Sermoon P1S ships with two 3,300 mAh batteries as well.

The Sermoon P1S is priced at $2,299 and is up for pre-orders via the official store. Customers can avail early-bird pricing of $2,099 till October 12. For reference, the Sermoon P1 is priced at $3,299.
