Creality Sparkx i8 uses clever QuarTeks system for zero waste, live now on Indiegogo

The 3D printing space is evolving rapidly, and we’re seeing innovation in all aspects. With multicolor and multi-material printing being all the rage for the past couple of years, manufacturers are now focusing on how to minimize the waste that comes from it. One of Creality’s solutions is the QuarTeks system, and the Sparkx i8 3D printer is the first to come with it.

The Sparkx i8 3D printer is now live on Indiegogo with a backing of 3,708 already. There are 39 days left to become a backer, but the funding goal has already been reached. The limited-time super early bird offer pits the Sparkx i8 at $289, a 28% discount from what will likely be its retail price of $399.

The Sparkx i8 is the successor to the i7, and it retains the bed-slinger form factor. The main upgrade is the QuarTeks system, not to be confused with the KliTek system that Creality is also working on. With QuarTeks, Creality has incorporated four channels inside a single hotend and is claiming zero filament waste.

This system works by switching to the desired color right at the nozzle without having to purge the previous filament. The prime tower is seemingly sufficient to clear the nozzle of the previous filament and prevent color contamination. Furthermore, with the purge-into-infill setting, there’s no need for a prime tower either. Alongside the four filament channels, the patch to the nozzle is almost nonexistent, which also contributes to zero waste. Creality is boasting sub-one-second filament swaps for 500% faster multicolor printing.

Besides the QuarTeks system, the Sparkx i8 comes with 81-point auto-leveling, a build volume of 260x260x255 mm, AI-powered failure detection, remote monitoring, and support for up to four colors with mounting rods on the frame.
