Lenovo releases new 15-inch laptop internationally with 1,100-nit OLED, cheaper pricing and Intel Panther Lake
Earlier today, Lenovo became the first batch of laptop manufacturers to launch Googlebook hardware. As we have discussed separately, all models promise 10 years of updates, Google Gemini Intelligence and Android interoperability. Although pricing is said to start at $899, this is only true of Acer's Googlebook 14.
Nonetheless, Lenovo's Googlebook 15 has reached the US for less than billed. At launch, the company claimed its new 15.3-inch laptop would start at $1,299. However, pricing actually starts at $1,149 in the US and CAD 1,649. Not only that, but this reduced pricing includes 512 GB of storage, twice as much as Lenovo was said to be equipping by default in North America.
Meanwhile, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 has also reached the Eurozone for €1,230-€1,399 with the same specs, but 256 GB of storage rather than 512 GB. Likewise, the 15.3-inch laptop has reached the UK for £1,050, including taxes. In comparison, Lenovo has not added its first Googlebook to its regional websites in Oceania, East Asia, Southeast Asia or the Middle East.
All configurations currently ship with the Core Ultra 5 325, an 8-core processor from Intel's Panther Lake family that also contains a 4 Xe3 core iGPU. On top of that, the laptop leverages 16 GB of LPDDR5X-7467 RAM and a 70 Wh battery that supports 65 W charging. Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity come standard, all within a 15.95 mm thick housing that weighs 1.28 kg.
Moreover, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 always features a 2.8K OLED display (2,880 x 1,800) with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Also, while this display peaks at 500 nits in SDR mode, it boasts peak brightness that rises to 1,100 nits in HDR mode. Incidentally, this is a similar OLED display to the one that Lenovo uses in the latest Yoga Pro 7i, whose peak brightness impressed us during our recent review (curr $2,809 on Amazon).
Currently, Lenovo estimates that orders should start shipping on October 4 across North America. By contrast, the company will not begin fulfilling orders until the end of October in Europe. Please see Lenovo's website for more details.
