Acer releases new 16-inch gaming laptop with Intel Panther Lake and up to 20 hours battery life
Acer has started selling a new 16-inch gaming laptop in America. To recap, the company released the Predator Helios Neo 16 and Predator Helios Neo 16S earlier this summer. Now, it has turned to its Nitro V division, which it refreshed in 2025 after a two-year break.
Specifically, Acer has updated the Nitro V 16S with Intel Panther Lake silicon. To recap, the older Nitro V 16S leveraged Raptor Lake-H processors like the Core 7 240H and Core 9 270H (curr. $1,329 on Amazon). By contrast, Acer's new model adopts the Core Ultra 7 355, which contains over 40% fewer CPU cores and 60% fewer CPU threads than the Core 9 270H.
Nonetheless, less than a 15% performance difference exists between the two processors in the Core 9 270H's favour. While the Core 9 270H is the more powerful of the two, the Core Ultra 7 355 is far more power efficient. As a result, Acer claims that the new Nitro V 16S lasts up to 20 hours on its 76 Wh battery in official video playback tests. Moreover, the gaming laptop is said to manage up to 7 hours in MobileMark 30.
Additionally, Acer equips its latest Nitro V 16S with GeForce RTX 5060 or GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPUs, each with 85 W TGPs. Moreover, the laptop contains a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel IPS display with a 180 Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB colour space coverage. The 16-inch laptop starts at $2,249 with a GeForce RTX 5060, 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD.
