Acer releases new lightweight laptop with Intel Panther Lake and 120 Hz display
Acer has released another 14-inch laptop built around Intel's Panther Lake platform. Announced in March, the latest TravelMate P4 joins the TravelMate P4 Spin, launch details of which we have covered separately. While the latter is now sold in multiple markets, we can only find the former for sale in North America for the time being.
Typically, the new TravelMate P4 should start at $1,799 with a Core Ultra 5 322 processor, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM and a 512 GB SSD to replace Acer's Arrow Lake-based generation (curr. $1,034 on Amazon). Also, the configuration contains a 1200p IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120 Hz refresh rate. However, Newegg has already discounted this SKU by $300 to $1,499.
The same is true for Acer's other current SKUs, which the company has priced at $1,999 and $2,099. Instead, jumping to a Core Ultra 7 355 with the same display and memory commands $1,699, a $300 saving on its MSRP. Alternatively, this processor can be paired with an 1800p and 16:10 IPS display that peaks at 400 nits. However, this high-resolution panel drops to a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Moreover, this variant costs $1,749, $50 more than an equivalent 120 Hz option and a $350 saving on its MSRP. Also, all variants ship with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Both are user-upgradeable though, with the former capable of supporting up to 64 GB of RAM. Acer packages all this hardware with a 65 Wh battery inside a 1.19 kg housing, which rises to 1.33 kg for 1200p display options. Please see Acer's website for more details.
