Surface Laptop Ultra price tipped: Microsoft could undercut Apple's MacBook Pro
The ever-reliable Roland Quandt has offered up some speculation about the long-awaited Surface Laptop Ultra. Announced in June at Computex 2026 in Taipei, the Surface Laptop Ultra was followed up a day later with the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box.
For the time being, Microsoft has not committed to a release date for either device yet. However, the company is expected to reveal more details about both devices on October 7 during its first in-person Surface event for a few years. In the meantime, the Surface Laptop Ultra was detailed earlier this summer in an extensive leak.
am looking at some retail info for the Surface Laptop Ultra. there i feel like there has to be some kinda tier system, cause there's no way in hell you'll be able to buy one of these systems with RTX Spark (lower end variant), 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD for just around 2K Euro rn, or is there?

According to Quandt, Microsoft's next Surface Laptop could still be comparatively cheap for Windows laptops. As the embedded post above shows, the leaker asserts that the Surface Laptop may cost around €2,000 with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, adding that this price will be for a lower-end RTX Spark chip. Presumably, this is the 18-core variant that appeared last month on Geekbench.
Ultimately, this would make the Surface Laptop Ultra more expensive than the Surface Laptop 8 (curr. $1,585 on Amazon). Conversely, circa €2,000 pricing would make the entry-level Surface Laptop Ultra significantly cheaper than the starting MacBook Pro 16, which now costs at least $2,999 with an M5 Pro, 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Based on past rumours, RTX Spark N1X variants could cost at least $2,899 in the US, though.
it kinda feels like this might be a kinda base price and then you add a subscription. BUT, too little info to make any sense of this at all, so all of this is speculation.
