Lenovo launches new 15-inch laptop with Intel Wildcat Lake and over 18 hours battery life

Lenovo has refreshed most of its IdeaPad laptops with Intel’s Wildcat Lake processors this year, including the IdeaPad Slim 3 and IdeaPad Slim 5. More recently, the company added the 14-inch IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 14IWC11 to the mix, and it is now bringing the budget-oriented Intel processors to the larger 15-inch model.

To recap, the 15-inch IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 is currently available with Intel's Panther Lake processors, starting at $1,039.99 for a Core Ultra 5 322 and 16 GB of dual-channel RAM. A higher-end configuration with a Core Ultra 7 355 and 32 GB of RAM costs $1,469.99. The new IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 15IWC11, meanwhile, will offer a choice of Core 3 304 or Core 5 315 processors, paired with up to 16 GB of single-channel DDR5-5600 memory.

According to our benchmarks, the switch to Wildcat Lake does not bring a noticeable performance boost, as shown in our review of the IdeaPad Slim 3 15IWC11. However, the new processors are more efficient and could help lower the starting price for entry-level laptops. For instance, the 14-inch IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 with Wildcat Lake is about 9% cheaper than its Panther Lake counterpart.

Elsewhere, the IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 15IWC11 still offers laptop and tablet modes with its 360-degree hinge. The display remains largely unchanged, with a 15.3-inch IPS panel, a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 400 nits of brightness, and a 60 Hz refresh rate. However, the screen now has a glossy finish instead of matte. Interestingly, Lenovo does not appear to offer an OLED option or a higher refresh rate as it does with the Panther Lake model and the IdeaPad Slim 5 15IWC11 (non-2-in-1 variant).

That said, other highlights include a 1080p webcam with a privacy shutter, a keyboard with a number pad and optional backlighting, and a 60 Wh battery that's said to last up to 18.99 hours in official tests. The laptop combines an aluminum lid with a plastic bottom chassis, and it checks in at 13.39 x 9.53 x 0.69 inches and 3.90 lbs.

Pricing and availability

Lenovo has listed the IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 15IWC11 on its global PSREF website, with multiple regional SKUs, including for the US, but there are currently no details about pricing and availability. The older Panther Lake model is currently available to order on its website
