Xiaomi 18 Pro series camera samples highlight new dual 200MP Leica setup

Xiaomi has recently announced that it would be releasing its new flagship phone lineup on September 23, 2026, in China. This series is expected to initially introduce three phones, with two being on the Pro lineup.

Now, the company has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will feature a dual 200MP Leica camera setup. Among them, one is a primary camera and it has a 1/1.28-inch sensor size.

The other 200MP camera is the telephoto sensor, and it has a sensor size of 1/1.56-inch. Xiaomi has also confirmed that this camera has a 75mm focal length and brings 3.2x optical zoom support. The predecessors in the Xiaomi 17 Pro series, in comparison, feature a 50MP periscope telephoto with 115mm focal length and 5x optical zoom support.

Another notable detail shared about the 200MP telephoto is that it has an f/2.4 aperture, an upgrade over the f/3.0 lens on predecessors (12/512GB 17 Pro Max curr. $937.09 on TradingShenzhen). Per the specs, this periscope sensor should be capable of taking more light and capturing detail-rich photos, with the 75mm focal length leading to good subject isolation.

To showcase the camera capabilities of this new 200MP Leica setup, Xiaomi has shared some samples. They are from the primary and telephoto cameras, and the images show good color retention, relatively high dynamic range, and decent low-light performance. While they look great, these samples should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are coming from the company itself.

There's nothing about the third sensor that the rear camera setup of the Xiaomi 18 Pro phones will come with, but it's expected to be the same ultrawide sensor found on the predecessors. The company could share more about the phones through upcoming teasers before the imminent September 23 launch event.
