Xiaomi 18 Pro series gets an official launch date

Xiaomi has now announced an official launch date for its upcoming flagship phones. With the Xiaomi 18 Ultra reportedly shelved, Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max on September 23 in China as its most premium traditional smartphones this year.

Following the release of the iPhone 18 Pro phones, Android OEMs are set to present their flagship models for the year shortly, with Oppo and Vivo both scheduling events for this week. Xiaomi has now followed suit, confirming a launch date for the Xiaomi 18 Pro series phones.

As revealed on the company's Weibo account hours ago, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series is slated to debut on September 23 in China. For some perspective, Vivo will launch the X500 series on September 21, and Oppo will present the Find X10 series on September 22—altogether making for an exciting week of premium smartphone launches.

Xiaomi's launch event will be headlined by the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, with the vanilla Xiaomi 18 expected to debut towards the end of the year, or in Q1 2027. As previously reported, Xiaomi likely has no plans to release a Xiaomi 18 Ultra. Instead, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max can be expected to be the company's most premium candybar smartphone for this generation.

Like previous Xiaomi flagships, the Xiaomi 18 Pro phones will be camera-centric offerings, with Xiaomi confirming the presence of 200 MP cameras behind the main and periscope zoom lenses of both devices. Other confirmed hardware features include 2 nm chipsets, M11 OLED panel structures, improved secondary displays, and larger silicon batteries than last year's phones. Specifically, 7,000 mAh for the smaller Xiaomi 18 Pro, and 8,500 mAh for the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max.
