Xiaomi 18 Pro series teaser gives first look at updated rear display

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its new flagship phone series, the Xiaomi 18 lineup. It will have devices competing against the likes of the OnePlus 16, which is also expected to be among the first to be powered by the next-gen top-end Qualcomm SoC, rumored to be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

Ahead of any formal announcement, Xiaomi has shared a teaser video for the upcoming 18 Pro series, and this clip gives a glimpse of the rear design. As the video shows, the upcoming Pro phones will retain the secondary screen on the back, but it seems that the bezels are slightly narrower than the rear display found on the Xiaomi 17 Pro smartphones.

Another minor change on the back is that the Leica branding has been moved to the right, and it seems that there's an additional physical button on the side. While Xiaomi didn't share what this button is for, recent reports suggest it's an "AI button," possibly offering the same functionality as the Essential Key on recent Nothing phones (16/512GB Phone 3 curr. $799 on Amazon).

Recent reports have also suggested that the Xiaomi 18 Pro phones will feature up to an 8,000mAh battery, up from the 7,500mAh battery found on the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. The camera setup is expected to see some upgrades as well.

Other aspects of the upcoming flagship phones are still under wraps, but Xiaomi says that the company will share more about the devices soon.
