MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro lags behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in latest CPU benchmarks
Qualcomm and MediaTek have both confirmed their plans to release new flagship chipsets this month. Their respective offerings are expected to be branded as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Dimensity 9600 Pro, and have now surfaced on Geekbench ahead of launch.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 was tested aboard what now appears to be a Qualcomm Reference Design device, while the Dimensity 9600 Pro appeared on an Oppo device said to be the Find X10 Pro Max. As earlier reported, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 earned a single-core score of 3,582 and a multi-core score of 12,247. The Dimensity 9600 Pro fell behind, however, with scores of 3,242 and 11,132 respectively.
It's important to note that both devices were tested on Geekbench 7, so these scores cannot be cross-referenced with Geekbench 6 results. That said, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 device like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra scored 2,898 and 9,451 on Geekbench 7's single-core and multi-core tests, indicating around a 25% CPU generational performance uplift for Qualcomm's imminent chipset. Previous benchmark listings suggest that figure will be closer to 30% for the Dimensity 9600 Pro.
