Asus launches new thin and light ExpertBook laptop with 120Hz OLED display

Asus has released the ExpertBook Air in China, and it's a downscaled version of the Ultra model but a better-configured option than the Intel Wildcat Lake-powered B3 G2. A big highlight of this new thin and light laptop is that it comes with a 14-inch OLED display.

The company highlights that the OLED panel has a "2.8K" screen resolution, 120Hz variable refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, and a 90% screen-to-body ratio. While maximum brightness rating stands at 500 nits, it has an anti-glare coating and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification.

It's powered by the Intel Wildcat Lake platform, with the base configuration featuring the Core 5 320 and the upper-end option packing the Core 7 350. Both come with a 6-core CPU configuration and have the 2-core Xe3 iGPU, but the Core 7 350 has a slightly more capable NPU and a higher clock speed.

There's a 65Wh battery inside, and Asus says that it can offer up to 26 hours of runtime. Another notable highlight of this ExpertBook Air is that it weighs 1.28kg (around 2.82lbs) and measures 10.4mm thick, making it thinner than the MacBook Neo while being similar in terms of weight (M5 Air 16/512GB curr. $1,234 on Amazon).

Even though it features a slim chassis, there's an active cooler that's said to be capable of handling heavy workloads without getting too loud. The port selection is also quite decent for a thin laptop. Specifically, the Wildcat Lake ExpertBook Air has the following ports:

• 1x HDMI 2.1
• 1x 3.5mm audio

For wireless connectivity, there's WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. In China, the Core 5 320 configuration of the ExpertBook Air OLED costs CNY 5,999, which is around $896. The Core 7 350 variant with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD costs CNY 7,499, or about $1,120. It's unclear when Asus will introduce this laptop in the global market, but the international non-OLED ExpertBook B3 G2 B3406CMA has a similar set of specs.
