Huawei unveils new MacBook Neo rival with 120 Hz OLED display and 14 hours of battery life

Huawei has refreshed the Qingyun laptop lineup by launching the Qingyun L420z laptop in China. The latest business-focused laptop comes as a direct successor to the Qingyun L420x. The new model retains the familiar design language of its last-generation model, featuring a slim and lightweight all-metal body. 

Dimensionally, it measures 226.8 x 312.6 x 14.5 mm (8.93 x 12.3 x 0.57 inches) and weighs around 1.32 kg (2.91 lbs). For context, its closest alternative, the MacBook Neo (curr. at $699 on Amazon), weighs 1.23 kg (2.7 lbs), making it lighter than the Qingyun L420z. As for the panel, the laptop boasts a 14.2-inch OLED touchscreen display that outputs at 2880 x 1920 pixel resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 450 nits. The panel covers 100% of both sRGB and P3 color spaces. 

Unfortunately, Huawei hasn’t disclosed the processor powering the L420z. However, what we know is that the processor is paired with LPDDR5x quad-channel memory and a built-in SSD bay. A 70 Wh battery pack powers the entire unit, which is said to offer 14 hours of battery life on a single charge. The laptop offers plenty of port options, including USB-C x 1, USB-A x 2, HDMI x 1, RJ45 x 1, and a privacy physical switch. Connectivity options include dual-band 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi and Bluetooth 5.2. 

Furthermore, other features include an HD webcam, a full-size backlit keyboard, a large touchpad, a fingerprint sensor built into the power button, two speakers, and two microphones. Plus, you can either choose the Galaxy Kylin or the UnionTech desktop operating system. Huawei has yet to reveal the pricing and availability for the Qingyun L420z. It remains to be seen whether Huawei will launch the L420z in global markets.
