HP launches ultra-thin Wildcat Lake laptop with 3K OLED display and 70 Wh battery

HP has quietly introduced the ProBook 4 G2iS, a thin 14-inch business laptop powered by Intel's new Wildcat Lake processors. At just 12 mm thick and starting at 1.18 kg, HP describes the machine as one of its thinnest commercial notebooks to date.
Despite the slim dimensions, the ProBook 4 G2iS gets a 70 Wh battery and comes with a 65 W USB-C charger. HP also equips the laptop with a 14-inch 2,880 x 1,800 OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits brightness and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Processor options include Intel Core 5 and Core 7 chips, but the spec sheet does not specify an exact SKU. HP offers the ProBook 4 G2iS with 8 GB, 12 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB of onboard LPDDR5x-6400 memory with no upgrade path. Storage choices range from a 256 GB NVMe SSD to 1 TB. Intel's integrated GPU handles graphics.
Connectivity is fairly generous for a laptop this thin. The left edge houses two 10 Gbps USB Type-C ports with DisplayPort 1.4 and USB Power Delivery alongside a USB Type-A port. Another USB-A port and a 3.5 mm audio jack sit on the opposite side. Wireless connectivity consists of Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
Other features include an FHD HDR webcam with an IR camera, Poly Studio-tuned stereo speakers, a spill-resistant keyboard and a 180-degree hinge. HP also claims MIL-STD durability. The aluminium chassis will be offered in Mist Silver, Atmospheric Blue and Eclipse Gray.
It is expected to hit shelves in November, and pricing will be revealed as its launch window approaches.
