HP releases new 16-inch laptop with Snapdragon X2 Plus and over 30 hours battery life

HP has just officially announced its latest OmniBook 5 laptop powered by Intel Wildcat Lake processors. Alongside this 14-inch model, we have discovered that the company has started selling the OmniBook 5 featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 architecture, too.
To recap, HP unveiled the OmniBook 5 with Snapdragon X1 processors during Computex 2025 in May 2025. Available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes (curr. $958 on Amazon), the OmniBook 5 also featured a choice between the Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) and Snapdragon X Plus (X1P-42-100). By contrast, the newer OmniBook 5 16 moves up to the Snapdragon X2 Plus (X2P-64-100).

According to our benchmarks, the Snapdragon X2 Plus (X2P-64-100) enjoys a 40% performance boost over the Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) and is around 28% faster than the Snapdragon X Plus (X1P-42-100). Nonetheless, the Snapdragon X2 Plus maintains the power efficiency of the older Snapdragon X1 Plus series. As a result, HP claims that the new 16-inch laptop lasts up to 34 hours during continuous 1080p video playback at 200 nits from its 59 Wh battery.
Currently, we can only find the latest OmniBook 5 16 for sale in the UK with 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a 1200p OLED display capable of 300 nits peak brightness and a 60 Hz refresh rate. At the time of writing, this SKU retails for £1,249 including taxes, which correlates to around $1,375. HP previously stated that a Snapdragon X2 Elite (X2E-84-100) variant will be available at some stage, too.
