The HP OmniBook 5 with Wildcat Lake processors has been launched globally, and with a starting price of $699.99, it rivals the MacBook Neo. This slim, lightweight laptop features a 14-inch OLED display and a battery life of up to 42 hours.

HP has introduced the OmniBook 5 with Wildcat Lake processors for the global market. It's a direct rival to the MacBook Neo with a starting price of $699, and the company is offering the slim and light laptop in multiple colorways as well.

There are three main configurations, with the base one coming with the Intel Core 5 315, an entry-level processor within the Wildcat Lake series. The mid-range config has the slightly more capable Core 5 320, while the top-end option packs the Core 7 350, which, per benchmarks, can somewhat compete with the Apple A18 Pro found in the MacBook Neo.

As stated on the spec sheet, there will be an option to configure the laptop with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and the base option will come with 8GB of memory, which should be enough for lightweight tasks. The main aspect of this OmniBook 5, however, has to be the OLED display, giving it a proper edge over the MacBook Neo with an IPS screen.

This Wildcat Lake laptop comes with a 14-inch display, and HP is offering three panel options, all of which are OLED screens. The base option has a 1920x1200-pixel resolution, while the top-end display has a 2560x1600-pixel resolution and is a touchscreen. All of them, however, have a brightness rating of 300 nits, which is a bit lower than the 500 nits rating found on the MacBook Neo.

Design-wise, HP notes that the laptop is as light as 2.56lbs and as thin as 11.68mm. Even though it's relatively slim, there's a full-sized HDMI port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with PD support, and one 3.5mm audio port.

Other highlights include a 60Wh battery with a rated video playback runtime of up to 42 hours, dual-speaker setup with DTS:X Ultra, and up to WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. The HP OmniBook 5, powered by the Intel Wildcat Lake platform, is available on the official store, but the model with the Core Ultra 7 350 is set to be available later in October 2026.
