Lenovo confirms new 15-inch budget laptop with Snapdragon C processor

Earlier this month, we spotted references to the Lenovo V15 G7 Q7X on the company's websites. The laptop has now made its official debut as a Snapdragon C-powered alternative to the Intel Wildcat Lake-based V15 G7 that went on sale in July.

The laptop is largely similar to the Intel version, with the main change here being the processor. Specifically, it uses the Snapdragon C C11-0100, Qualcomm's entry-level Windows-on-Arm SoC, aimed at Windows laptops in the $300 range. It features eight Kryo CPU cores rather than the newer Oryon cores found in the more powerful Snapdragon X and Snapdragon X2 processors. That said, the V15 G7 Q7X will be able to handle some local AI tasks, but with only a 12 TOPS NPU, it does not qualify as a Copilot+ laptop.

The Snapdragon model can be configured with up to 16 GB of dual-channel LPDDR5X-6393 RAM and up to 512 GB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. However, entry-level configurations will come with 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage instead. By comparison, the Intel Wildcat Lake version supports up to 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, albeit in a single-channel configuration, and starts with 256 GB of PCIe 3.0 storage.

The Snapdragon model brings a few advantages, such as longer battery life. Lenovo quotes up to 23.28 hours in its official JEITA-BAT 3.0 tests, compared with 16.91 hours for the Intel version. The Snapdragon model does have a slightly larger battery, though, at 50 Wh compared with 47 Wh in the Intel version. The display also gets an upgrade, with a taller 16:10, 1920 x 1200 IPS panel, a higher 400 nits brightness (vs. 300 nits), and an optional 120 Hz touchscreen.

It still uses a plastic chassis with an almost similar port selection, including two full-function USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, a headphone jack, and HDMI. However, Lenovo has swapped the Gigabit Ethernet port on the Intel version with a microSD card reader. Both models have a 720p webcam with a privacy shutter and a non-backlit keyboard with a number pad.

Pricing and availability

Lenovo has not yet announced pricing for the V15 G7 Q7X, but it could cost less than the Wildcat Lake version, which starts at over $1,000 in countries such as Germany. Lenovo appears to be planning a broad international release, with configurations already listed for multiple countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
