Acemagic launches new 16-inch laptop with Intel Panther Lake and 24 GB RAM

Acemagic has quietly refreshed its RX16 laptop with a new CPU. It gives the 16-inch model an up-to-date Intel processor. Acemagic has previously sold essentially the same platform with aged AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX, which paired eight Zen 3+ cores with Radeon 680M integrated graphics.

The new processor, however, represents a substantial upgrade. Intel's Core Ultra X7 358H is a 16-core Panther Lake chip that combines four P-cores, eight E-cores and four low-power E-cores. It can boost to 4.8 GHz and comes with a 50 TOPS NPU. It comes with Intel's Arc B390 integrated GPU with 12 Xe3 cores clocked at up to 2.5 GHz. Intel rates the GPU for up to 122 TOPS of INT8 compute, and it supports features including hardware ray tracing, DirectX 12 Ultimate and AV1 encoding and decoding.

This should make the new RX16 considerably more interesting for light gaming. Acemagic complements the Panther Lake chip with 24 GB of LPDDR5-7467 memory and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Unfortunately, the memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded. Storage fares better, as there are two M.2 2280 slots with support for up to 4 TB in total. One of those slots can accommodate a PCIe Gen5 NVMe drive.

Cooling consists of two fans and a vapour-chamber heat spreader, which Acemagic claims enables up to 65 W of sustained performance. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB 4, another full-function USB-C port, an HDMI 2.1 port, two USB 3.2 ports, a USB 2.0 port, a microSD card reader and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Acemagic has kept the original RX16's 16-inch, 16:10 panel with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate. The laptop also retains its 180-degree hinge.

Acemagic currently lists the RX16 for $1,159 with 24 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. That's the only configuration available for now. Orders will shipped in 3-5 days, at least on the US website.
