Lenovo launching new 14-inch laptop globally with over 26 hours battery life
A few weeks have passed since Lenovo unveiled its latest ThinkBook 14 Gen 9. For context, we have already put the company's Intel Panther Lake-based model through its paces (curr. $1,262 on Amazon). However, the company also sells the ThinkBook 14 G9 with Intel Raptor Lake and AMD Hawk Point processors.
Then during IFA 2026, Lenovo added a Snapdragon X2 Plus variant to its ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 lineup. As we discussed at the time, the new ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 is set to arrive next month in the US for $1,299. Similarly, the laptop should reach Europe in October for around €1,099 excluding taxes.
To that end, Lenovo has now listed the new ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 across Europe, Asia and North America. At the time of writing, all listings merely refer to the laptop as 'coming soon' rather than offering any further details. Meanwhile, Lenovo's Product Specifications Reference (PSREF) website confirms that the ThinkBook 14 G9 'Q8Y' will receive a full global release.
Moreover, PSREF names all regional SKUs before their release. In the process, it reveals that Lenovo will limit the new ThinkBook 14 G9 to 16 GB of soldered RAM, rather than the 32 GB of LPDDR5x-9523 RAM mentioned during IFA. The 14-inch laptop also contains M.2 2242 and M.2 2280 SSD slots, only the former of which Lenovo will populate from the factory.
On top of that, Lenovo has confirmed that the ThinkBook 14 G9 Q8Y leverages the Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42-100. The slowest chipset in Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 family, the X2P-42-100 contains four fewer cores than the Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-64-100.
Nonetheless, the laptop's 50 Wh battery is said to last nearly 27 hours during 1080p local video playback tests at 150 nits. By contrast, web browsing tests at the same brightness value return 14.25-hour runtimes. Please see Lenovo's website and our launch article for more details.
