Vivo X Fold6: The global version is here! Is it still worth importing?

The Vivo X Fold6 first debuted in China in the summer of 2026 (we reported), before vivo brought the foldable to Europe a few months later. The X Fold6 has been officially available in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland since October 1, 2026 (we reported).
At first glance, the Chinese and global versions are virtually identical: Both feature the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, large LTPO displays, a 200-megapixel ZEISS main camera, and an exceptionally slim foldable design. Upon closer inspection, however, there are some notable differences. While the Chinese model offers more storage options and a battery with a nominal capacity of 7,000 mAh, the European version comes with OriginOS 7 Fold, a 6,900-mAh battery, and software tailored more specifically to the international market, including Google services. There are also differences in wireless standards and warranty terms, which are of particular interest to buyers who are torn between a cheaper import from China and the official European X Fold6.
Technical differences tested in detail
Technically, the Chinese and global versions of the Vivo X Fold6 are very similar. The processor, displays, camera sensors, dimensions, and charging capabilities are largely identical. The main differences lie in storage, battery, wireless connectivity, and software. While the global model is offered with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, the Chinese version is available in several configurations with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. As with the Chinese version, the global model also posts higher benchmark scores (as we reported).
The battery capacity is 7,000 mAh in the Chinese version and 6,900 mAh in the global model. In practice, however, this difference is negligible: In our battery test, the global variant lasted only two minutes less. Optimizations in the newer OriginOS or the different software base may contribute to this, but the measurement does not provide clear evidence of this. Both models charge at 80 watts via cable and 40 watts wirelessly; the charging process is two minutes shorter for the global version.
The difference is more pronounced when it comes to Wi-Fi. The China version supports Wi-Fi 7 at 2.4 and 5 GHz, while the global X Fold6 also supports 6 GHz. In our test, the global version achieved speeds of up to 4.2 Gbps on this band. The global model also features dual eSIM support.
The camera hardware is virtually identical. Both models feature a 200-MPix main camera with a Samsung HPB sensor, a 50-MPix Zeiss APO telephoto camera with a Sony Lytia 602 sensor, and a 50-MPix ultra-wide-angle camera. In a direct comparison, however, there are slight differences in calibration: The global model delivers a more neutral white balance and exposes images slightly darker than the Chinese variant.

Ultimately, the biggest difference lies in the software. While the Chinese X Fold6 originally launched with OriginOS 6 Fold, the global version ships directly with OriginOS 7 Fold. Added to this is Google integration tailored for international users. All in all, the hardware remains nearly identical, while wireless technology, software, and storage options account for the key differences.
For buyers in Germany, the global version is generally the simpler choice, while the imported version is worth considering primarily if it’s offered at a significantly lower price or if 16 GB of RAM or 1 TB of storage is required. Technically, there are hardly any compelling arguments in favor of the imported version.
