New Surface Laptop Ultra release details revealed with up to 128 GB RAM and 20-core RTX Spark

Microsoft will host its first dedicated Surface event in years on October 7. For the time being, the company is believed to be focusing on the Surface Laptop Ultra, having showcased the laptop at Computex 2026 in May. Moreover, the event is believed to be when Microsoft will showcase the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, too.
In the meantime, various sources have provided more information about Microsoft's first Ultra-branded laptop. Reportedly, all SKUs contain a 15-inch Mini LED display that delivers 2,000 nits peak brightness in HDR mode.
Additionally, all Surface Laptop Ultra models will ship with a haptic trackpad, which Windows Central reports is about 30% larger than the equivalent inside the Surface Laptop 8 15-inch (curr. $1,384 on Amazon) we reviewed earlier this week. Also, Roland Quandt has demonstrated that the Surface Laptop Ultra features RTX Spark 'S2' or 'S3' processors.
From the 24 GB and 32 GB RAM combinations shown below, the RTX Spark S2 is Nvidia's 18-core option, which also leverages a 5,120-core GPU. By contrast, the Nvidia RTX Spark 'S3' jumps to 20 CPU cores, 6,144 GPU cores and will be available with 32 GB, 48 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of RAM.
Currently, Windows Central expects pricing to start 'well above $2,000', which will include the Nvidia RTX Spark S2 and 24 GB of RAM. By contrast, Roland Quandt reports that pricing will range 'from under ~3K to over ~7K' for high-end configurations. Initial shipments are believed to commence in mid-October, with pre-orders opening on October 7.
