If you travel a lot and need a compact laptop, there are some aspects you have to consider. It should be very light, last a full day on battery and still offer sufficient performance for multi-tasking if necessary. Lenovo's ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 AMD promises exactly this balance.
The heart of the ultra-mobile business laptop is a current AMD processor, which offers plenty of performance for typical offcie-related tasks. Combined with the low-power IPS panel, the ThinkPad also manages excellent battery runtimes, so you should easily manage a full business day without the power brick. The display, however, is limited to 60 Hz, and the matte surface results in a slightly grainy image impression.
A major advantage for your productivity on the go is the support for 5G/LTE modules by default, because all models are shipped with the necessary antennas. If you need Internet everywhere you go, you can simple add a corresponding module and start browsing the web.
When it comes to the keyboard, the small ThinkPad offers a solid typing experience, even though it simply is not quite as good compared to larger ThinkPad models. We were also a bit disappointed the speakers system, because it sounds a bit tinny.
The memory is soldered and cannot be expanded, and the memory crisis also affects the specs, because our review unit only features a 512 GB SSD, despite the high price. If you need 64 GB RAM, you have to get the Intel SKU with a Panther Lake CPU (AMD limited to 32 GB). All in all, however, the ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 is once again a solid tool for mobile workers.
