HP releases new 16-inch laptop with 128 GB RAM and 120 Hz display
HP has stated selling its first AMD Gorgon Halo-powered laptop. As expected, the ZBook Ultra G3a comes with a choice of Ryzen AI Max 400 APUs inside a chassis that weighs 1.9 kg. However, HP is only selling the 16-inch workstation in Japan for now.
For context, HP launched the ZBook Ultra G3a in mid-September. A few weeks later, the company appeared to reveal US pricing via a support page. Incidentally, the laptop is now showing on some regional websites too, including HP Ireland. HP has not opened pre-orders outside Japan yet, though.
Setting that aside, HP has revealed a dozen ZBook Ultra G3a SKUs. None of these include 192 GB RAM though, which HP mentions on its product pages. Currently, the workstation starts at JPY 575,300 (~$3,635), including taxes, with the Ryzen AI Max Pro 485, 32 GB of LPDDR5x 8533 RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a 1200p IPS display featuring a matte finish, 400 nits peak brightness and a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Meanwhile, opting for 64 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD while retaining the Ryzen AI Max Pro 485 and a 1200p display increases pricing to JPY 827,200 (~$5,225). Moreover, switching to the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 and 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM pushes the ZBook Ultra G3a to JPY 1,361,800 (~$8,606). This SKU also includes a 2 TB SSD and a 1600p display boasting a 120 Hz refresh rate, though.
For reference, ZBook Ultra G1a we reviewed in 2025 starts at JPY 705,100 (~$4,452) in Japan with the Ryzen AI Max Pro 390, 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD (curr. $1,950 on Amazon). Hence, we suspect that the ZBook Ultra G3a will cost less in markets like the US. Please see our launch article for more details about HP's latest 16-inch workstation.
