Garmin has delivered a new update to some of its cheaper mid-range smartwatches. Replacing recent major firmware releases, the new update should improve the Venu 4 and Vivoactive 6 in multiple aspects.

Last month, Garmin released Software Version 18.29 to the Vivoactive 6 (curr. $299 on Amazon). As we discussed at the time, the same update arrived as Software Version 18.30 for the Venu 4. Garmin did not explain the version mismatch between the two smartwatches, though.

Now, Garmin has issued a new stable update for both smartwatches. It is worth noting that this new update is not a major release. Instead, Software Version 18.32 is an interim update aimed at fixing bugs spotted in prior builds. To that end, Software Version 18.32 only contains bug fixes, rather than any new features to speak of.

Principally, Garmin has included five bug fixes. However, one of these is said to fix multiple 'minor issues'. Currently, Garmin estimates that around 20% of Vivoactive 6 and Venu 4 smartwatches should have received Software Version 18.32 by now. One can manually download the update if that is not the case, though. The full changelog for Software Version 18.32 is as follows:

  • Fixes an issue that could cause the alarm vibration to be unintentionally disabled.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause the device to reset when changing screens during an activity.
  • Fixes other minor issues.
  • Fixes a potential issue with Spotify music playback after skipping songs via paired Bluetooth headphones.
  • Prevents smart notifications from sounding a tone when the device is in silent or do not disturb mode.
