Garmin: New update released for popular smartwatches with device reset fix

Yesterday, Garmin delivered a new beta update for both the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 (curr. $749 on Amazon). As we discussed at the time, the update returned to v18.xx development, which Garmin had seemingly finished with the release of System Software 18.29 in September.
Initially, it was unclear when the company would translate the changes this build contained to its stable software branch. Likewise, it did not clarify whether more v18.xx beta builds were on the horizon. Without warning, it has now started rolling out a new stable update to both models globally.
Specifically, Software Version 18.32 has arrived as a direct replacement for System Software 18.29. Across a series of forum posts, Garmin asserts that it has already issued the new stable update to around 20% of Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches running stable software.
Typically, this rollout takes a few to complete, with Garmin preferring to issue new updates in batches rather than all at once. As always, one can skip Garmin's rollout process by requesting System Software 18.32 manually. To do so, navigate through the main menu to Settings, System and Software Update before tapping 'Check for Updates'. The full list of changes between System Software 18.29 and System Software 18.32 is as follows:
- Fixes an issue that could cause the alarm vibration to be unintentionally disabled.
- Fixes an issue that could cause the device to reset when changing screens during an activity.
- Fixes other minor issues.
- Fixes a potential issue with Spotify music playback after skipping songs via paired Bluetooth headphones.
- Prevents smart notifications from sounding a tone when the device is in silent or do not disturb mode.
