XMG has launched two new 18-inch gaming laptops
XMG has launched the PRO 18 and PRO 18 VE with Intel Core Ultra 200HX Plus processors, RTX 50-series GPUs and 18-inch 1600p displays. Both laptops can be bought now with a 5% early-bird discount available until October 20.

XMG has launched the PRO 18 and PRO 18 Value Edition, two gaming laptops with Intel Core Ultra 200HX Plus processors and Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics. Both machines were first previewed at Computex in June. The regular XMG PRO 18 sits at the top of the pair. It combines Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, featuring eight performance and 16 efficiency cores with boost clocks of up to 5.5 GHz, with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU and 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM. XMG configures the RTX 5070 Ti for a 115 W TGP plus as much as 25 W of Dynamic Boost, resulting in a maximum sustained GPU-only power limit of 140 W. Under simultaneous CPU and GPU workloads, the cooling system is rated to sustain a combined 205 W.

The PRO 18 VE (Value Edition) is the more affordable alternative. Its Core Ultra 7 270HX Plus drops four efficiency cores for a 20-core configuration with boost clocks up to 5.3 GHz, while an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU handles graphics, with the same 12 GB of GDDR7 memory. The RTX 5070 operates at up to 100 W plus 15 W Dynamic Boost, or 115 W in GPU-only workloads. Interestingly, the VE does not sacrifice much combined power headroom, with XMG quoting a sustained CPU and GPU limit of 200 W.

Both laptops use 18-inch 16:10 IPS panels with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 500-nit brightness and full sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. However, the regular PRO 18 runs at up to 300 Hz, whereas the Value Edition tops out at 180 Hz. With Nvidia Optimus enabled, the regular model supports variable refresh rates between 50 and 240 Hz. Switching the panel directly to the discrete GPU through the MUX switch unlocks the full 300 Hz refresh rate. The PRO 18 VE supports VRR from 50 to 180 Hz with Optimus.

Otherwise, the two machines are largely identical, with up to two replaceable DDR5 SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 128 GB. Compatible CSO-DIMM modules can operate at up to DDR5-6400, while conventional SO-DIMMs officially support up to DDR5-5600 without additional XMP tuning. XMP, manual RAM tuning and CPU undervolting are all available. Storage consists of two M.2 2280 slots. One provides a PCIe Gen5 interface and the second PCIe Gen4, with RAID 0 and RAID 1 support.

The XMG PRO 18 and XMG PRO 18 VE offer plenty of connectivity such as Thunderbolt 4/USB4 with DisplayPort 2.1 and up to 140 W USB Power Delivery, a 10 Gbps USB-C port with DisplayPort and 100 W PD, three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort 2.1, 2.5 Gbps Ethernet and a full-size SD card reader. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5 handle wireless networking. The HDMI and Mini DisplayPort are wired directly to the Nvidia GPU, while the USB-C display outputs run through the Intel integrated GPU.

Both laptops also include a removable, screw-mounted 99.8 Wh battery, and an FHD Windows Hello webcam with a physical webcam shutter is included as well. The chassis measures 400 x 291.5 x 26.5 mm on both machines, with an aluminium display lid and plastic upper and lower chassis sections. The regular PRO 18 weighs 2.9 kg and ships with a 280 W power adapter, while the slightly lighter PRO 18 VE weighs about 2.82 kg and comes with a 250 W unit.

Pricing starts at €3,299 for the XMG PRO 18. Its base configuration includes the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, RTX 5070 Ti, 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, and a 1 TB SSD. The XMG PRO 18 VE starts at €2,849 with the same memory/storage specs. Both laptops are available immediately through Bestware and can be freely configured at the time of ordering. XMG is also offering a 5% early-bird discount on both PRO 18 models until October 20.
