XMG releases upgraded 16-inch gaming laptops with RTX 5070 12GB and better cooling

XMG has released two more gaming laptops featuring the 2026 Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 with 12 GB of VRAM, following the Apex 17 that went on sale back in July. This time, the company is refreshing its 16-inch Apex 16 and Pro 16 VE gaming laptops from 2025, adding minor cooling improvements alongside the GPU upgrade.

XMG Apex 16 (M26): 16-core Ryzen 9 options from €2,399

The new 2026 Apex 16 remains largely similar to its predecessor, with XMG offering the same choice of 16-core Ryzen 9 9955HX and Ryzen 9 8945HX processors, paired with up to 96 GB of DDR5 RAM. The main difference here is the GPU, with the 2026 model now featuring the 12 GB RTX 5070, up from 8 GB VRAM. That still leaves the 2025 Apex 16 Max with its RTX 5070 Ti as the higher-end model in terms of performance.

In addition to the new GPU, the Apex 16 (M26) also gets improved cooling with a third fan dedicated to the RAM and extra ventilation slots underneath. The chassis, however, remains the same, but it is now slightly lighter at 2.35 kg (5.18 lbs), including its 99.8 Wh battery.

As for the display, the new model is only available with the base IPS panel featuring a 300 Hz refresh rate, 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and 100% coverage of both sRGB and DCI-P3. Buyers looking for a mini-LED display have to step up to the Apex 16 Max.

XMG Pro 16 VE (M26): Same Intel Core i9, more VRAM

Similarly, the 2026 Pro 16 VE gets the 12 GB RTX 5070 with up to 115 W of graphics power, along with the same cooling improvements as the Apex 16 (M26). However, it pairs the new GPU with the Intel Core i9-14900HX from its predecessor. That said, the new configuration slots between the 2025 Pro 16 VE models with RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 Ti graphics. It also comes with the same 300 Hz IPS display with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution.

Pricing and availability

Buyers can now configure and order the XMG Apex 16 (M26) through Bestware, starting at €2,399 (~$2,782) with a Ryzen 9 8945HX and 32 GB of DDR5-5200 RAM. Upgrading to the Ryzen 9 9955HX adds €125. Meanwhile, the Pro 16 VE (M26) starts at the same €2,399 with an Intel Core i9-14900HX and 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM. Both base configurations include a 1 TB SSD.
