Nvidia RTX 60 series to skip 2027 launch, just like most of AMD’s RDNA 5

Recently, it was reported that Nvidia is targeting the first half of 2027 to launch its RTX 60 series GPUs. The information was shared by a prolific leaker who cited industry insiders and claimed that the launch was originally scheduled for 2026. Now, another well-known leaker has claimed that neither Nvidia nor AMD will launch new GPUs in 2027, except one.

The latest information comes from Kepler_L2 over on the AnandTech forum. He states that Nvidia’s Rubin-based RTX 60 series, as well as AMD’s RDNA 5 GPUs, will launch in 2028. He adds that only AMD’s AT2 GPU will launch next year, 2027. The AT2 is said to be an RDNA 5-based GPU that rivals Nvidia’s high-end Blackwell cards such as the RTX 5080.

This comes as contradictory news to what Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID) stated recently. While Kepler_L2 did not share a source or reason for the 2028 launch, or for why only one AMD GPU will launch in 2027, MLID did back his claim. He explained that while the RTX 60 series was originally scheduled for 2026, it was delayed to 2027 to allow “AI to gobble up as much TSMC capacity as possible this year.”

That said, Kepler_L2’s claims are in line with previous leaks that suggested AMD's RDNA 5 GPUs will be pushed to 2028. As to why only one AMD GPU is said to launch next year, it could be because of the RDNA 5-based PS6 that is expected late in 2027.

The two have shared opposing views on various occasions in the past. When the RTX 60 series and RDNA 5 GPUs actually launch, only time will tell.
