Danganronpa 2×2 PC specs shock, as visual novel recommends 32 GB RAM and RTX 4070

The September Nintendo Direct announced January 14th, 2027 as the Danganronpa 2×2 release date. Fans are now learning more about the performance of the reworked mystery visual novel. Although much of the presentation remains 2D, the recommended PC specs include some pricey components.
Spike Chunsoft posted the minimum and preferred configurations on its website. For an acceptable experience, desktop and laptop gamers only need an AMD Ryzen 5 4500 or Intel Core i5-14400 CPU. Memory and GPU requirements are also lenient, with developers asking for 8 GB of RAM and a Radeon RX 6600 or GeForce RTX 2060.

The listed recommended specs are much more daunting for a visual novel. Danganronpa 2×2 players should have 32 GB of memory and a Radeon RX 7700 XT or GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card. The site advises clearing at least 40 GB of free space, but other information on the site cites 22.71 GB.
Posters on the game’s subreddit are now concerned about poor optimization. Fans of similar series like Capcom's Ace Attorney enjoy smooth performance without challenging system requirements. Another explanation is that Spike Chunsoft made an error or is being overly cautious.
3D upgrades
If the publisher responds to complaints, it may point out that the graphics have been significantly upgraded over Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Not only are they rendered at a higher resolution, but the Jabberwock Island map has been transformed into a 3D world. Regardless, some buyers may be reconsidering their pre-orders.
On the Danganronpa 2×2 release date, the title also launches simultaneously on Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox consoles. Along with the recommended PC specs, Spike Chunsoft previewed performance on other platforms. PlayStation and Xbox owners can expect 4K/60 fps visuals. Meanwhile, Switch 2 gamers will see frame rates between 30-60 fps and 1080p in handheld and docked modes.
