Gamescom 2026 leaks hint that The Witcher 3 Remastered will thrive on Nintendo’s console. A Polish content creator reports that frame rates may reach 60 fps. The eShop lists 120 Hz compatibility, indicating that the Switch 2 game could also offer a 40 fps option.

Early Gamescom 2026 impressions suggest that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered Switch 2 port will impress. Spotted by KabiPlays on social media, a Polish content creator attending the event believes the CD Projekt Red title runs at 60 fps. However, there's some doubt it’s a realistic target considering the graphical upgrades.

Too good to be true?

Ahead of its late September release date, CDPR should showcase the Switch 2 game on Friday, August 28th. In advance, the publisher has distributed screenshots teasing a significant boost in visual fidelity. Kuba Karaś was fortunate enough to test The Witcher 3 Remastered already and shared his thoughts on social media.

The translated leak reveals that the port “looks and runs phenomenally” on the Nintendo console. In the replies, the gamer confirmed that the open-world action RPG renders at 60 fps.

Gamescom observations from the German Nintendo-Online.de are also positive. The site says that frame rates exceed 30 fps and applauds improved textures, lighting, and foliage.

The Nintendo eShop listing provides clues about performance options. Players can choose up to a 120 Hz refresh rate in docked and handheld modes. This often signals frame rates of at least 40 fps, but it’s not guaranteed.

DLSS is a likely addition

Switch 2 gamers see some benefits of the handheld’s added power with the last-gen The Witcher 3. Image quality is noticeably better than on the original handheld, although the graphics are essentially locked at 30 fps. That said, the remaster is designed for the newer console. Capabilities like DLSS upscaling would make a higher frame rate more attainable.

Readers speculate that by its September 29th release date, developers may settle on a 40 fps/120 Hz performance mode. A quality setting could increase detail levels at the expense of smooth gameplay. In CPU-heavy areas, a dynamic resolution is also possible.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered Switch 2 upgrade will be free for owners of the existing title. Included in this version are the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions.
