2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for fans of The Witcher. Netflix has confirmed the fifth season of its live-action series featuring Geralt of Rivia, while a major DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is also on the horizon, with speculation pointing to a potential new location. Although exact release dates remain under wraps, fans will not be left empty-handed. On February 25, the franchise will receive a unique new entry with Reigns: The Witcher.
The Reigns series, developed by Nerial and published by Devolver Digital, focuses almost entirely on narrative and decision-making. Every choice shapes the direction of the story and can lead to anything from minor changes to major consequences. Visually, the games embrace a minimalist style that keeps storage and system requirements low.
The series’ first title launched in 2016, casting players as a king tasked with navigating the challenges of leadership through a series of choices. In 2017, a follow-up allowed players to experience the same mechanics from a queen’s perspective. Then in 2018, Reigns: Game of Thrones brought the formula into the world of Westeros. Now, players will soon step into the boots of Geralt of Rivia in Reigns: The Witcher. Alongside him are familiar faces like Yennefer, Triss and Vesemir, with the bard Dandelion providing musical flair through his ballads.
Aside from the most recent entry, Reigns: Three Kingdoms, the series has generally received solid reviews and has been priced affordably between $3 and $5. A similar price point seems likely for Reigns: The Witcher. The game also looks promising in terms of Steam Deck (currently priced at $675 on Amazon) compatibility, as previous Reigns titles are listed as either “Playable” or “Verified” on Steam. For now, the release is planned for PC via Steam and GOG, as well as for Android and iOS. Whether the game will also come to consoles remains uncertain.
