Xiaomi's new Redmi Turbo series has now landed in China. As pre-launch teasers suggested, the series tops out at the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. Also, Xiaomi has presented the Redmi Turbo 5 today too, full details of which we have covered separately.
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max centres around MediaTek's new Dimensity 9500s. A 3 nm chipset, the Dimensity 9500s combines one Cortex-X925, three Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 CPU cores with an Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU and a MediaTek NPU 890. Additionally, Xiaomi complements this new chipset with LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 flash storage and a 9,000 mAh battery that the Redmi Turbo 5 Max can top up at 100 W over a wired connection.
Xiaomi equips the Redmi Turbo 5 Max with a 6.83-inch AMOLED display too. With a 2,772 x 1,280-pixel output, the flat display also offers a 120 Hz refresh rate with 3,840 Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming support. Moreover, Xiaomi includes 50 MP primary (Light Hunted 600), 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 20 MP front-facing cameras.
The Redmi Turbo 5 Max starts at CNY 2,199 (~$317) with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage. Alternatively, the handset can be configured with up to 16 GB of RAM or up to 512 GB storage for CNY 2,799 (~$403). While there is no official word yet on international availability, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max may launch globally later this year as the Poco X8 Pro Max with significantly more power than the Poco X7 Pro that effectively preceded it (curr. $372.99 on Amazon).
