After the Realme 16 Pro and the Realme 16 Pro+ were unveiled in early January, the base model is now following suit. The design of the Realme 16 was clearly inspired by the Apple iPhone Air, and Realme makes no secret of this – the smartphone is even advertised as having an “Air design,” although it's not exactly slim at 8.1 millimeters thick.
The pill-shaped camera module on the back looks as though it houses three cameras, but two of them, with 2 MP sensors, are more decorative than functional. The 50 MP f/1.8 main camera can also be used for selfies thanks to the mirror, a feature Realme appears to have borrowed from instant cameras. Alternatively, a 50 MP f/2.4 front camera is also available. The Realme 16's casing is IP69 certified and thus water-resistant.
Inside, a 7,000 mAh battery can be charged via USB-C at up to 60 watts. The 6.57-inch AMOLED display boasts a resolution of 2,372 x 1,080, a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak HDR brightness of 4,200 nits, with a maximum brightness of 1,400 nits across the entire screen. A MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo processor with two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores provide plenty of performance.
